October Wrap-Up and November TBR

If there's one thing you can count on, is that I'll always post my Wrap-Ups and TBRs. Here we are again, another month has passed and I only read two books this month, which is okay I guess... Here they are:

1- The Glass Castle (4.5/5)
     I loved this book. It made me happy and sad just like the movie did. I cried and had very strong feelings about the characters, particularly since they are actual real people. I don't usually autobiographies, but this one is so good and I really recommend it. I recommend the movie too. It is fantastic. 

2- The Death Cure (3.5/5)
     Finally read the third book in the Maze Runner series. Since the movie is coming out soon, I just had too. I definitely enjoyed this one more than the Scorch Trials. But it still wasn't as good as The Maze Runner... It was an interesting ending, but not really what I wanted. Also no spoilers, but if you've read the book you know there's a part that I really hate and that I wish hadn't happened. But I was spoiled for it so I wasn't really surprised when it happened...

NOVEMBER TBR

Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things

I know I know, the title is kinda weird... But I really wanted to read a Halloweeny book and this ebook was free on Amazon and it really got my attention. I am halfway through it and I low key am loving it. The characters are great and there are werewolves and I love werewolves packs so much. 

17 year old Ember Denning has made an art of isolating herself. She prefers the dead. She spends her days skipping school in old cemeteries and her nights hiding from her alcoholic father at the funeral home where she works. When her own father dies, Ember learns her whole life is a lie. Standing in the cemetery that’s been her sanctuary, she’s threatened by the most beautiful boy she’s ever seen and rescued by two people who claim to be her family. They say she’s special, that she has a supernatural gift like them…they just don’t know exactly what it is. 

They take her to a small Florida town, where Ember’s life takes a turn for the weird. She’s living with her reaper cousins, an orphaned werewolf pack, a faery and a human genius. Ember’s powers are growing stronger, morphing into something bigger than anything anybody anticipated. Ember has questions but nobody has answers. Nobody knows what she is. They only know her mysterious magical gift is trying to kill them and that beautiful dangerous boy from the cemetery may be the only thing standing between her and death. 

As Ember’s talents are revealed so are the secrets her father hid and those in power who would seek to destroy her. What’s worse, saving Ember has put her cousins in danger and turned her friend’s lives upside down. Ember must learn to embrace her magic or risk losing the family she’s pieced together.

I'm definitely reading at least another books this month, but I have no idea which one yet. I'm gonna see what I'll feel like reading after finishing this one...

September Wrap Up & October TBR

 

        I'm a little late, but to be honest, uni has been keeping me so busy I didn't even realize it was October and that I hadn't posted this yet until today. Unfortunately, I had to change my Reading Goal on Goodreads from 50 to 40 books. I'm upset but it is what it is. I literally have almost no free time anymore so I've been reading fewer books than usual.

OCTOBER TBR

The Glass Castle
     Saw the movie recently and loved it. A family friend lent me the book and I'm already halfway through it. Might do a book + movie review once I'm done.

Jeannette Walls grew up with parents whose ideals and stubborn nonconformity were both their curse and their salvation. Rex and Rose Mary Walls had four children. In the beginning, they lived like nomads, moving among Southwest desert towns, camping in the mountains. Rex was a charismatic, brilliant man who, when sober, captured his children's imagination, teaching them physics, geology, and above all, how to embrace life fearlessly. Rose Mary, who painted and wrote and couldn't stand the responsibility of providing for her family, called herself an "excitement addict." Cooking a meal that would be consumed in fifteen minutes had no appeal when she could make a painting that might last forever. 

Later, when the money ran out, or the romance of the wandering life faded, the Walls retreated to the dismal West Virginia mining town -- and the family -- Rex Walls had done everything he could to escape. He drank. He stole the grocery money and disappeared for days. As the dysfunction of the family escalated, Jeannette and her brother and sisters had to fend for themselves, supporting one another as they weathered their parents' betrayals and, finally, found the resources and will to leave home. 

What is so astonishing about Jeannette Walls is not just that she had the guts and tenacity and intelligence to get out, but that she describes her parents with such deep affection and generosity. The Death Cure
    The trailer came out and I've been putting off reading this book for far too long. Let's just say I got spoiled (if you've read the book, you know which spoiler I'm talking about) for something I really wish didn't happen. But oh well, here I go.

It’s the end of the line.

October Wrap Up and November TBR!

              I did not read a lot of books this past month for various reasons, but most importantly the fact that I had a lot of homework, essays and tests at school, and I made my own Halloween costume. What were you on Halloween? I was the Queen of Hearts! Me and my friends were dressed as a group, as Alice in Wonderland. It was so much fun!

   2- A menina que colecionava borboletas (I read it in portuguese; The girl that collected butterflies) (4/5)

    This book is by a Brazilian author called Bruna Vieira. I've read other books by her in the past and she is a very good author. Bruna's chronicles are my favourites! This book was only released in Brazil. I really liked it! <3

   3- The Scorch Trials (3/5)

   I did really like it but not more than I liked The Maze Runner. I felt like we got a lot of Thomas but not enough of the other Gladers. I don't like Brenda at all! I actually hate her! I am annoyed by what happened with Theresa, Aris and Thomas at the end. So I don't know if I trust her or not. In the beginning they said that the Scorch Trials would be harder than the Maze Trials, but I don't think it was. I hope that The Death Cure is better!

   I'm rereading it before the movie! So excited!!!!

You, however, should decide for yourself whether you can possibly endure this miserable story.

September Wrap Up and October TBR!

  On my last TBR I said that I intended to read 3 books in September, but in the end I read 6 books! (The Maze Runner movie tie in edition isn't really in my Wrap Up because it isn't really a book but I wanted to take a picture of it :P).

  This is a Brazilian book so you won't find this book in english. The translation of the title is basically "Sleeping princess". It's kind of a retelling of Sleeping Beauty but not exactly. It was a fast read and it's a very cute book!

4- Insurgent (3.5/5)
  I didn't like this book so much,  check out my review here to know why. 

5- Blind Love (4/5)
 I read it on my Iphone, it's a very good book by a new author called Rebecca May Spicer, and she is 16! Check out my review here to know more about this book!

6- The Silver Linings Playbook (2.5/5)
I didn't like this book at all. I didn't like the characters neither the story. The movie is better. Pat is just so obsessed with his ex wife Nikki, it's insane! That's the only thing he talks about the whole freaking book. His relationship with Tiffany wasn't really that good. I really disliked this book!

Allegiant 
I'm almost done with this trilogy and I have Allegiant so I'm gonna start reading it as soon as I post this post. I'm excited to know what's gonna happen! I've been spoiled so that sucks but anyways...

Gone Girl
I've heard a lot of good things about this book so I might just pick it up before I watch the movie.

 On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Love Rosie

 It was on my August TBR but I didn't read it! I wanna read it before I watch the movie, I know it has another title but I don't know if they changed or not. I heard something about it, I'm not sure...

Rosie and Alex are destined for one another, and everyone seems to know it but them. Best friends since childhood, their relationship gets closer by the day, until Alex gets the news that his family is leaving Dublin and moving to Boston. At 17, Rosie and Alex have just started to see each other in a more romantic light. Devastated, the two make plans for Rosie to apply to colleges in the U.S. 
She gets into Boston University, Alex gets into Harvard, and everything is falling into place, when on the eve of her departure, Rosie gets news that will change their lives forever: She's pregnant by a boy she'd gone out with while on the rebound from Alex. 
Her dreams for college, Alex, and a glamorous career dashed, Rosie stays in Dublin to become a single mother, while Alex pursues a medical career and a new love in Boston.    Hello guys! Today I am doing the KISS, MARRY, CLIFF TAG! I wasn't actually tagged by anyone but I think it is a really fun tag and I'm doing it! I don't like Sebastian at all (but I cried in City of Heavenly Fire, you know why!) so I would totally throw him of a cliff.

Movie Review: The Maze Runner

 I watched The Maze Runner last night and it's so good!!!! There were some differences but I think that overall the movie was loyal to the book. I think that the movie was more for the people that have read the book than for the people that haven't. I had to explain all the movie to my mom because she wasn't understanding why that was happening. The movie was more fast passed than the book, which is fine by me. I just thought that Gally's anger of Thomas was not truthful to his anger in the book. I didn't feel like Thomas needed to hate him. When Thomas remembered his name, that was so funny! MY NAME IS THOMAS! Chuck was so cute!!! And I cried at the end because I knew that that was gonna happen but I was praying that it wouldn't! Newt is sooooo cuteeeeee!!! And I was sad that he didn't call Thomas Thommy because I think that it's adorable when he does that in the books. Minho is so nice and I really liked the guy that played him, he was the perfect Minho! That scene when Theresa was throwing rocks at the Gladers was hilarious and The Glade is just so well done! I think that if the Grievers Hole was like it is described in the book, it would be too confusing. The way that they did was a good way to change its appearance but it's still basically the same thing. That thing that they found inside the Griever? Really cool! When the doors didn't close and the Grievers attacked the Gladers instead of attacking only one... Oh My GOD! That was so intense and horrifying! My mom was freaking out in her seat. I think that the movie needed that scene so in my opinion that was a good change. And I remember that in the book there were more than 40 people alive after the attack and in the movie there was like 20 people. I think that the movie wasn't that long so I think that they should have done that thing where the maps form words for the code. That numbers sequence was kind of nonsense. The end was really nice. I think that it was quite awesome when they were in the helicopter and they could see the maze. This was an awesome book to movie adaptation and I'm so excited for the next one!!!!!!
