Book Review: Everything, Everything

My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.

But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.

Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.

        I love this cover. I mean, it's hard not to, right? It has these beautiful colourful doodles and it's just so pleasing to the eye. Well, I picked up this book because the movie is coming out this month and I wanted to read it before seeing it. 
        This book follows the main character, Maddy, who has SCID, which is a deficiency in the immune system which makes the person susceptible to severe infections and diseases. Maddy has never been outside her extremely protected house, at least since she was a baby; but now a new family has moved to the house in front of hers and as she meets Olly, the new boy next door, she begins to really yearn for a life out there. 
        This book was really cute. And it honestly was different than what I thought it would be. I watched the movie trailer before and it looks a little bit cheesy. (Not that I don't love cheesy romantic books). But it was actually really nice and entertaining. It is one of those books that aren't super fantastic but that are enough to make you happy. It's a simple story that is perfect for those days when you just want to read something fast-paced, good, and relaxing (is that the right adjective? I don't really know how to explain the feel of it but you get me right?). 
          But anyways, my favourite thing about this novel is the author's style. The short chapters, the doodles, the text messages, it was all really cool and just really beautiful. I love it! The characters were likable and I was really rooting for Maddie to get a happy ending. Because not being able to go outside for 18 years really sucks. 
        So this is pretty much it. I don't have anything negative to say about this, to be honest...  That's good! So yeah, I super recommend it if you are into contemporary books or if you're looking for a book that has a style that I don't see much anywhere else.

Movie Review: Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

        

         I read Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children more than a year ago, and I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. I have a review on it if you'd like to check it out before reading my thoughts on the movie adaptation. After watching the teasers and the trailers, I realized that this movie would probably not be a very good adaptation. But I still had a flicker of hope that it wouldn't be a total failure. 

         The movie is about Jacob, as he goes on a journey to find the mysterious children's home that his grandfather used to live in when he was younger. Jake finds out that the stories that his grandfather told him were real, and the children that lived in the house had special powers, or peculiarities, like super strength, invisibility, and the ability to bring life to someone or something for a short time. What Jake wasn't expecting was to find that the kids are still alive, and in incredible danger, and Jake is the only one who can help them.

        My favourite part of this movie was the setting. The island where the house is situated, is exactly like what I had imagined, and the house was beautiful and magical, like in the books. Some, although not quite all, of the characters were just as I had pictured them to be, and the actors did a great job in portraying them. Particularly Millard, Fiona, Bronwyn, Claire, and the twins. Asa Butterfield wasn't as bad as I thought he would be for the role, but he still didn't embody Jake as well as he could've. Although I hate that Emma's and Olive's powers were switched (something that Tim Burton decided to do to so that the plot would work better), it is definitely not the worse thing in the film. Ella Purnell did a decent job in bringing Emma's personality to life, it wasn't her fault that the character wasn't well depicted. Other characters' ages were pumped up, like Olive and Enoch, to add feelings like jealousy and romance to the plot. In my opinion, the actress who played Olive looked to old for the way she was acting. In the book she's about five years old if I remember correctly, and she's absolutely adorable. I wish she was kept like that in the movie. 

         I was expecting Eva Green to be a great Miss Peregrine, since Burton called her a 'scary Mary Poppins', but instead, she was something else entirely. Not like Miss Peregrine. She is supposed to be scary but in a cool way, and she loves the children. In the movie she was extremely theatrical and would change moods so quickly for no apparent reason. She was also too young. The main Wight villain, Barrow, was played by Samuel L. Jackson, and instead of being scary, he was trying too hard to be funny. There were so many out of place lines in this movie, it was ridiculous. The book has a creepy feeling to it, and I wish the movie had it too, but unfortunately it felt more childish that serious.

          Now let's talk about the fact that the second half of the movie is not from the book at all! I'm pretty sure I spent the entire movie turning to my friend (who has read the book as well) and repeating how confused I was. For some reason, the characters had to go to this whole other place to rescue Miss Peregrine, and there were a bunch of wights and hollows (which are huge in the movie by the way), and they were in this amusement park, and I don't wanna spoil you, but I gotta say, the most ridiculous thing that could've happened happened. 


        I know this review is all over the place, but it's mainly because I was (and still am) very confused. I understand that movies can't be exact replicas of the books, but they certainly can do the best they can to make it similar. And for some reason, this movie was completely different. If you've read the book, I recommend you to watch it just so you understand what I'm talking about. And trust me, it will make you cringe and laugh because it's just so terrible, there's nothing else you can do.

- Emma has magical shoes that she never loses even when she drops them in random places.
- Awkward eyeball animation. 
- Barrow's shapeshifting hand. 
- The Wight who is also an animal hybrid. 
- "and then I joined the navy."
- Jake is too chill the whole time.
- Hollow chalk outline.
- And many others...

Movie Review: Pete's Dragon

I didn’t know that the Pete’s Dragon remake was going to be a thing until I saw the trailer at the movie theatre when I went to see Finding Dory. I have never seen the original one and I knew nothing about it (besides that it had a dragon in it). The trailer looked a little bit similar to the new Jungle Book remake that just came out a few months ago, so I was a bit worried. But did look pretty great and it made me super excited to watch the film. 

 I came back from vacations less than two weeks ago, and the movie was already out. So I went to see it. And oh boy, was I in for a surprise. 

This remake is slightly different from the 1977 one. In this one, Pete is an orphan that lives in the forest with his friend Elliott, who happens to be a dragon. When the people of the town nearby find Pete, they obviously can’t let the 10 year old go back to the woods alone. So Pete and Elliott’s lives change completely.

I obviously was expecting to like it, and I knew it would be cute and all. But that movie moved me in a way that I hadn’t been moved for a long time. It reminds me of when I watched The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep when I was a kid. And it made me cry just the same. 

Anyone who is planning to watch this movie should definitely bring tissues. I didn’t, and I regretted that a lot. With it’s great actors, amazing cinematography and plot, and a wonderful soundtrack, Pete’s Dragon is another movie that Disney can add to it’s growing list of remarkable remakes. 

I don’t know why, but I literally spent the whole movie trying not to cry. I mean, as many Disney movies (Tarzan, Up, Finding Nemo, etc), this one starts with a heartbreaking scene. And even though there are many happy ones, I couldn’t stop myself from getting all emotional. Maybe it was the soundtrack, which was so amazing and the movie would have been a whole other thing if it was different. (Listen to this song, it's so good!). Or maybe it was the little boy and the dragon, whose relationship was so cute, it made me not want to see them apart ever. 

Then movie can be a little too dark at moment (particularly at the beginning scene) and I don’t think it would be very appropriate for young children. To be honest, it might have been the reason I spent the whole time with tears in my eyes. It was extremely sad to imagine a kid going through all of that and then spending years with only a dragon as company (don’t get me wrong, the dragon is great! But it’s not enough for a kid to spend 6 years with!). I guess the director and screenwriters didn’t really think about what kind of audience they were going to get. 

I have read some other reviews and I know that some people found it too cliché. I can see why they would think that, but I guess it didn’t really matter to me as much because it is a Disney movie (mostly for kids), and it was beautifully done. I can’t wait for the next remakes that are going to come out! 

                     

The Mortal Instruments - A movie and tvshow review

          If you are a fan of the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare, then you are probably are aware of two things: 

1- A City of Bones (aka the first book in the series) movie came out in 2013 and it totally flopped. 

2- It was decided that the series would be made into a tv show on Free Form (former ABC Family) and it came out in the beginning of this year.

The movie had many complications but it also had some positive factors. Starting with the cinematography, which looked stunning. Places like Clary’s house and the New York Institute looked just like most of the fans had imagined. Some of the scenes were also really entertaining. Although it was a bit different from the book, the fight scene at the Hotel Dumort was very badass. However, the screenwriters had decided to alter some of the scenes from the book and cast actors that wouldn’t be the reader’s first choice (I am looking at you Jonathan Rhys Meyers), which not only created a few plot holes (No one could possibly believe that “naturally blond” Jace was dark haired Valentine’s and redheaded Jocelyn’s son) but also left fans very disappointed.

My case was a bit different than most fans since I watched the movie before I read the novels. That tends to change your mind a little bit. I loved the movie and it made me want to read the series. I obviously see that it is far from being a good book to movie adaptation but weirdly enough I can separate both things and enjoy the movie without comparing it too much to the book.

The news that they would give the series a second chance and turn it into a tv show left the fans overjoyed but also worried that the same thing that happened to the movie would happen to it. When people found out the actors who were gonna play their favourite characters, there were some mixed reactions. For example, I was really excited to see Emeraude Toubia and Matthew Daddario play the Lightwood siblings, but wasn’t very thrilled about Alan Van Sprang as Valentine (better than the one in the movie but still…) or Katherine McNamara and Dominic Sherwood as the main characters, Clary and Jace. I just couldn’t imagine them as the characters. But I, and many fans, still had hope that the show would succeed and the actors would be the perfect choices. 

Trailers and Sneek Peeks were released, and we started to doubt that this would be better than the movie. But we still had a flicker of hope. Then, January 12th came around and I stayed far away from social media, because I would only be able to watch the show on the next day, since I didn’t live in the US. On the next day I was at a friend’s house and I told her about the show. She and I decided to watch it. I'm sad to admit that I was very disappointed with it. It was still enjoyable, and I was still excited to watch the next episode. But a part of me couldn’t believe that the second chance that this series got was going to be ruined.

As I expected, Emeraude and Matt were great in their roles. Perhaps not exactly as I had pictured the characters to look like and act, but they won me over with some funny lines (and great acting). I’m not saying they are perfect, since Isabelle is (as I remember correctly) more badass and she definitely wouldn’t be the “distraction” or seduce someone for information (I also feel that the show is concentrating too much on her body. We get that she’s sexy but she doesn’t have to wear revealing clothes 24/7). I was very surprised to find that my favourite character on the show was none other than Simon Lewis! Someone who I never really liked in the books. Alberto Rosende is, hands down, one (if not the) of the best actors in this shown. He is a funny, believable character, and the actor crushed it with his acting. My doubts were, unfortunately, confirmed with Dom’s and Kat’s characters. Their lines felt forced and the characters totally different from who they actually are. Their chemistry felt awkward and I cringed a lot. But I guess this is more of the writers' fault. They are the ones who wrote those lines and made those characters act that way. (Can we get new screenwriters for the next season please??)

There were ups and downs as the series progressed. Sometimes it would reach a point where the fans would think: Oh, this is actually pretty good. I hope it keeps up this way! But then they would be disappointed again as they watched the following episode. We all knew that it would be different from the books, the characters are older and we understand that a tv show might need a little bit more of extra plot and cliffhangers, but we weren’t expecting it to be this different. 

So basically there are many things that we wish we could take out of the movie and switch it with the show. Let’s be honest, the Institute is not supposed to be that modern, full of technology, and the amount of Shadowhunters in New York makes me so frustrated that I hate to even think about it. The movie did that right, the show didn’t. Also the special effects in the movie is 100% better than the ones on the show. And I wouldn't mind switching some of the actors as well. (I like Lily Collins. What can I say?)

The characters’ chemistry is also a problem. Yeah, I have to agree that Magnus and Alec has some cute scenes, but sometimes it just doesn’t feel right. Simon and Isabelle are cute but not right either. And don’t even get me started with Clary and Jace. Every time they are together in the same room the scene’s quality decreases. Their lines never (well, almost never, I’m sure there are some good ones, right?) feel natural, and I just don’t really understand how they fell in love with each other. Plus, I need better scenes between Alec and Jace. They are Parabatai, for goodness sake! Don’t the writers know what that means?

But as many fans, I kept watching it. I can’t give up on it. We just have to hope that it will get better. I was quite surprised when it was renovated for a second season, so now we’ll just have to wait. I’m not sure if I recommend it. I believe most of the fans already watch it, so if you don’t know about this series. At least read the books, it’s worth it.  

      

                    

                    

Book and Movie Review: Me Before You

Lou Clark knows lots of things. She knows how many footsteps there are between the bus stop and home. She knows she likes working in The Buttered Bun tea shop and she knows she might not love her boyfriend Patrick.

What Lou doesn't know is she's about to lose her job or that knowing what's coming is what keeps her sane.

Will Traynor knows his motorcycle accident took away his desire to live. He knows everything feels very small and rather joyless now and he knows exactly how he's going to put a stop to that.

What Will doesn't know is that Lou is about to burst into his world in a riot of colour. And neither of them knows they're going to change the other for all time.

    I watched the movie adaptation of Me Before You and I feel like I'm finally able to review it! At first I was a bit iffy about it because I read The Last Letter From Your Lover (I reviewed it as well), and it is by the same author, Jojo Moyes. I didn't really like it so when I found out that she wrote Me Before You I didn't know if I wanted to read it. However, I started to hear a lot about it and I finally saw the movie trailer. It looked so cute and so good! And there are so many good actors that I know from other movies/shows and it made me really excited. I finally decided to read it and I loved it. It wasn't what I was expecting it to be, even though I watched the trailer. I thought it would be about the romance between Lou and Will but it really wasn't! There was a lot of cute moments and romance in it but it didn't take over the book. It was funny and sad and it really made me think about life and stuff. 
     I really liked the characters, particularly Lou. She is funny and nice and super relatable. Her style is also pretty cool. I also really liked Will, Nathan, and Treena. I was cheering for Louisa the whole time and I really liked how determined and caring she was. I'm not going to talk about the ending because I don't want to spoil anyone but I just really liked this book. I love contemporaries so I'm not surprised I did.

    I really enjoyed the movie! It was way more fast paced than the book and there were some scenes in the book that I wish were in it but overall it was pretty good. Sam Claflin and Emilia Clarke are great and they are the perfect Will and Lou! I honestly don't know how else to review this movie but just to tell you that you should watch it because it's great. I wish we had gotten to see more of Lou's relationship with her family tho... Anyways, I love Lou's outfits and I want the dress that she wore at the wedding because it's gorgeous. 

     Well this is my review, I need to go back to my habit of reviewing books right after I finish reading them because then I remember everything and can write a more passionate review. I'll try to do that. I know that there is a Me Before You sequel called After You but I'm not sure if I want to read it or not...  Anyways, hopefully I'll post another review soon, until then byee :)

                    

Book Review: Neverwhere

    Hello! It's been a while since my last book review... Sorry about that. Anyways, this is going to be a review of the book Neverwhere, by Neil Gaiman. This was my book club book of the month of January. To be honest, I wasn't very happy with this being the book club choice, because the story just didn't sound appealing to me. It is actually based of a tv show from 1996! Which is weird, you don't really hear about tv shows/movies being made into books. Neil Gaiman is a very famous author, and the only other book that I've read by him is Coraline (and I love Coraline). So I was expecting a lot more than what I actually got. I don't want to give any spoilers, but I honestly would not recommend this book to anyone. You might have different opinions than me (most of my book club members did), but that's okay. 
     The characters weren't very appealing to me.  There was absolutely nothing special about the main character, Richard Mayhew. And you could see that the author was trying to make him special and able to do some stuff, but it just didn't feel right. I liked Door, and her power. She was nice. Anaesthesia was nice too. I actually really liked the villains, Mr. Croup and Mr. Vandemar. They were so creepy! And they did some really bad things! But that's what made them well written characters. Besides them, I didn't really like any other characters. 
     I feel that this book had a lot of unnecessary information. And it was very detailed (more than enough). But it was published in 1996 and I understand that things were a bit different back then. I just didn't like Neil Gaiman's writing style. It's been a while since I read Coraline, so maybe I would notice the things that I don't like about his writing if I reread it nowadays. 
   There were a lot of things in this book. I was trying to explain it to my brother, and he said that it sounded like the author had a weird dream and he decided to write about it. And that he added a bunch of random things together and published it. I wish he had focused more in just one thing. I guess the story would work for a tv show (even though it is a Mini Series). I haven't watched it yet, but I plan on doing so. 
   So yeah... I don't really have anything else to say... Please tell me bellow if you've read this book. and what you though of it. I really want to know!

    You guys have to watch this Making of Shadowhunters video! I didn't get to watch it on the tv, but I found it online and I absolutely love it! I am so freaking excited! I love (almost) everything about it! Can't believe I'll get to watch the tv show next month!

                  

Book Review: The 5th Wave

  Hi there! Guess what book I finally read? THE 5TH WAVE! I've heard so many good things about it and I was very excited to read it. In my Writing class, we were doing a Book Club thing and my group chose The 5th Wave. I wanted to read it before the movie came out, and I had to ignore the movie trailer (even though I really wanted to watch it.) But now I've finished and I am here to tell you what I though about it.
   I really liked it. The idea is super cool and so beautifully executed. It's also really scary. To imagine that happening is terrifying. It's not your usual Alien invasion. It's more dark and cruel than that. I am very excited to read the next book, although I've heard some people were disappointed with it. The book is also really sad. And I feel so bad for the main character, Cassie, and her little brother, Sammy. I really like Rick Yancey's writing style. The beginning and ending of every paragraph were really good. They would grip my attention and I'd want to know what would happen, and I couldn't stop reading it.
   It's funny because Cassie's name is Cassiopea, and I have a friend called Cassiopea. And I've never thought I'd see a character with that name. I mean, my name is Isadora, and I have never read a novel with a character with that name. If you know any, please comment down below!
   The book is also written on another character's POV. I don't really want to say his name so that I don't spoil anyone. I was freaking out when I figured out who was narrating it. I honestly don't trust Evan. I ship Cassie and 'the other character'. I really like him. Evan is just too nice. Sammy is just a kid and I hate what they were doing to him! Training kids like that! So unfair!
   I think some parts of the book were too long. But overall the book was pretty great. The ending was a bit rushed, and it wasn't exactly an ending. So it definitely needed another book. I really like the characters, and the story, and definitely the world building. Super cool!

Movie Review: Fantastic Four

   First of all, whose stupid idea was to make a new Fantastic Four movie? Like seriously, there was no need for this. Rotten Tomatoes ratted it 8%! I really didn't like it. I was comparing it to the, really good, Fantastic 4 from 2005 that was basically my childhood. The actors in this movie are so young! I can't take them seriously. I have to admit that the movie is visually appealing but the plot is not good at all. The changes they made didn't feel right. The final battle was so fast. I was thinking "Shit. This is it. The movie is about to end." I was so annoyed! Nothing happened!!! Honestly, the only character that I liked was Ben and I felt so bad for him! This movie was completely unnecessary and I just want to forget I ever saw it. 

                   

Book review: Paper Towns (again)

    Hey guys. Some of you may have noticed that my Paper Towns book review got accidentally deleted. I was very upset about that, however, I just remembered that I had posted my review on another website! It's probably not exactly the same but I'm going to post it here anyways.

    I had really high expectations for this book because I’ve heard people think this is John Green’s best book. I disagree, I still like TFIOS way better. I gave it 3 out of 5 stars. I liked the characters, Quentin is my favourite character, however his obsession with Margo was annoying at times. I didn’t like Margo, she is definitely an interesting character with a strong personality, but I didn’t like her. The whole thing about her wanting to leave and all… I don’t know… I also don’t like Ben. His actions were extremely disgusting, disrespectful, annoying and not funny at all sometimes. Radar was okay, he was a good friend. Angela was super nice but she wasn’t really in the book, I hope we get to see her more in the movie. Lacey is my favourite! She is so cool and nice! I was not expecting to like her as much as I did.  
   I just don’t think this book was very interesting, the plot line was boring and there’s not even a lot of romance in it. The book is divided in three parts. Part three is my favourite, I loved it. The gas station scene is my favourite. Part one was kinda fun, but part two was incredibly boring and the bad thing is that it takes most part of the book.

   Also, they live in Orlando. I don’t know how people that live in Orlando really feel about living there, but I wish they had mentioned Disney World more. I mean… You freaking live in the city where freaking Disney is located! Isn’t that awesome?    There are some funny parts, and I recommend it because I’ve heard so many mixed reviews that it’s likely that your opinion will be different than mine.

Book Review: The Selection

   I read this book for my Book Club and I loved it. I've been wanting to read it for a while now so I was really excited when this book was chosen. I gave it 5 stars on Goodreads. I traveled to Europe and I thought I would have time to read at least half of the book there, but I only read two chapters while I was on the plane. So when I came back I had 3 days to finish it before the Book Club meeting. But this book is such an easy fast-passed read that I only took two days to finish it because I was controlling myself, I could've read it in just one sitting. 

   I really like America. She is a good main character, I didn't get annoyed with her at all. I also love Aspen and Maxon. They are so cute!!! I unfortunately know who America is going to choose because I know who the last book is about is about so... Maxon is so sweet and Aspen really loves America. For me, this book is very similar to The Hunger Games. At least the characters are. America is Katniss, Maxon is Peeta, Aspen is Gale, May is Prim, Gavril is Caesar, Silvia is Effie, Celeste is Glimmer, and so on and so on. But I don't have a problem with that, I actually find it very entertaining.

   There was a time when I thought: "It's the whole Will and Jem thing all over again" (from The Infernal Devices), but then I changed my mind to Peeta and Gale. I don't know who I would choose if I was America (probably Maxon, but...). 

   I am really curious about the whole history of the US becoming Ilea. Sometimes they don't explain exactly what happened (like in THG) but they talked a bit about it in this book so I really wanna know more about it. 

   The author, Kiera Cass, is so sweet. I was watching her youtube videos when she got the contract for the book and it's so cute. I would love to meet her someday. The book will be turned into a movie!! I am so excited!

Movie Review: Paper Towns

   I read the Paper Towns book in April for my Book Club and I wrote a review that you can check out here. On my review you might have noticed that I didn't really like this book. I watched the movie with my friends from Book Club and now I'm gonna talk a bit about it. Be aware that this review will contain spoilers from the book and the movie. 

   In my opinion, the movie is better than the book. I know you don't hear that very often, but I think it is true. I thought that the book was slow paced and boring. But because it is a movie, things happen quicker and the boring details are eliminated. I really like Cara as Margo and Nat as Quentin. Actually, the whole cast was very well chosen. They really looked like high school students! Something that we usually don't see on the media these days. 

   I just really love Nat Wolff. He is so adorable. Q's obsession with Margo annoys me a lot but Nat made it a bit more bearable. I don't like Margo's character. At the end I was so mad with her!! Ben was still super annoying but a bit cuter in the movie. I wanted his relationship with Lacey to be bigger in the movie but it wasn't... Lacey is pretty awesome. I really like her. Radar is pretty cool too, he looked exactly like I pictured. Angela is the cutest, I'm so happy she was more present in the movie than in the book! She is definitely one of my favourite characters even tho she's not very important. 

   Can we talk about John Green's cameo? My friends and I were the only ones in the theatre so we basically talked and fangirled (by that I mean we literally yelled at the scream multiple times) all the time. I knew about John's cameo so if you didn't you may not have noticed it. He was Becca's (is that her name?) father, the one that came out of the house carrying a gun?! That was funny. And what about Ansel Elgort??? He was so cute!!! We were freaking out! It's really funny that he is in another John Green movie (just like Nat :P).

   I really liked the changes they made, it made the movie better. I really liked the ending, because when I read the book I was sure Q would go to Prom. But he didn't. Also, when Quentin had that weird dream about Margo... What was that? 

   This movie was really funny. One of my favourite scenes was when they were at the mini mall. And Ben starts singing the first song that comes to his mind, which happens to be the Pokemon theme song. Hilarious.

   I was looking for a cute interview of the cast to put on here but then I found this interview of Cara Delevingne with the Good Day Sacramento anchors. And it is unbelievable. The anchors are so disrespectful! I honestly think that Cara was right to have that reaction. The questions were so weird and they even said her name wrong. WTF? 

                   

 

Book Review: The Night Circus

   As mentioned on my May Wrap-Up and June TBR post, the Book of the Month for June for my Book Club was The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I was extremely excited to start reading this book and I had a lot of expectations for it because I've heard a lot of good things about it, and I have to say I was somewhat disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the circus. It is so magical and I wish it was real. But it didn't have a very strong plot. I gave it three out of five stars. 

   This book had a very slow pace, so it was boring very often. The story was confusing and I did not like the writer's writing style, it didn't have a nice flow. The idea of the circus is very interesting, but the main conflict surrounding the book was not. Most things weren't even explained. The book is in third person objective, so we didn't know the character's thoughts or feelings. And the writer didn't talk about them very much so we basically didn't know anything about them! So I couldn't relate to them at all! There should've had more character development. 

   I didn't like how they made such a big deal of things that weren't even that important. I spent the whole book waiting for something to happen. And the game wasn't even explained. It wasn't explained to the main characters because they weren't supposed to know, but I was like "But I need to know!!!" Some details were extremely pointless and there was a lack of the details for important things. However, I enjoyed the book and the small sections in second person were the best. The main characters were okay, I love Poppet and Widget!

 I recommend the book if you think you'll enjoy it, some of my friends really loved it. But this is just a disclaimer so that you don't expect to love the book like I did and get disappointed later.

Book Review: I Am Number Four

Nine of us came here. We look like you. We talk like you. We live among you. But we are not you. We can do things you dream of doing. We have powers you dream of having. They caught Number One in Malaysia.

And Number Three in Kenya.

     Okay, now let's be honest for a moment here. The book "I am Number Four" is so bad!!! I honestly was almost crying of frustration and also laughing because this book is ridiculous. I cringed so many times. It is probably one of the worst books I've ever read. I gave it 1.5 out of 5 stars. 

     Okay, now that I said that, I'm gonna tell you why I read this book. I watched the movie when it came out and I loved it, but I was just a 12 year old girl. After finishing this book I watched the movie again and it's actually way better than the book. It's not as good as I thought when I was younger, but it's definitely interesting. 

     Here is the problem. The book has an interesting idea. The idea that there are these kids that came from another planet, and they have numbers and powers is great. However, the book was so poorly written, that the idea was completely ruined! I don't like Four/John. Actually, I hate him. I don't like Sara either. She is so unrealistic. When Four told her the truth, she was so okay with it, it was stupid. She was like: Oh, it's fine. I love you and it doesn't matter what your are. Are you freaking kidding me? That is not how you react when you find out that your boyfriend is a freaking alien! Their romance was so stupid!!! There were tons of cliche lines and it made me want to kill myself. Every time they talked to each other, I was cringing. And the thing is, the book is in Four/John's POV. So we were reading about his feelings and thoughts about Sara ALL THE TIME! He was like: Oh, she left 10 minutes ago but I already miss her. It was so immature, and when I found out that he was 15 years old (younger than me), I got pretty mad. 

     There were a few characters that I liked tho. Henri is nice. I like him and I feel super bad for what happened to him. I actually cried. Bernie Kozar was really adorable. And Number Six is my favourite! The best parts were when she was talking. She's so badass and cool. And Theresa Palmer plays her in the movie and she's super awesome.                                                                                   Almost nothing happened through out the book! Besides the battle at the end, and when Henri was kidnapped, the whole book was extremely boring. The battle was complicated and confusing to read about. I may read the next book because I still have little hope that the next characters are better. It's not in John's POV so maybe it won't be as bad. But I didn't like the author's writing style. So maybe I won't.

Movie Review: Pitch Perfect 2

     Hey guys! So, on May 16th I watched Pitch Perfect 2 and I loved it! It is so hilarious and awesome. The songs are great, in my opinion better than the ones on the first movie because remember when they used to sing the same songs all the time? It didn't leave enough room to sing cool songs. But in this movie, all the songs were great! There are somethings that I didn't like but overall the movie was very funny and entertaining. 
     I love Hailee Steinfeld! She is so adorable and such a good singer! Her character was great and her relationship with Benji was the cutest thing ever! Jeca (Jesse + Beca) is my OTP for Pitch Perfect! They are so freaking cute together and in the first movie their relationship was kind of a big deal but I feel like in this movie it was just there and we didn't get any romantic scenes with them. The only scene where they were alone was when he was dropping her off at the Recording Studio (and that scene was pretty cute). And I wanted so much more!!! Also, the Treblemakers weren't important at all?!?!
     The Recording Studio thing was pretty cool, when Anna Kendrick and Snoop Dogg sang together!!! It sounded so good! The whole thing with Fat Amy and Bumper was so cute! When he asked if she wanted to be his girlfriend and she said "no" was so sad!! I felt so bad for him! But it was so funny the scene where she sang "We Belong"! 
     People say that Beca and Chloe are supper gay for each other. I don't think so, I actually have never thought about that till I saw Bechloe fanfics on Tumblr (and they are kinda weird...). But then I watched Pitch Perfect again and realized that Chloe seems really into Beca but I don't think Beca is into her?! People were making the cabin scene a really big deal but I think it's just supposed to be funny and it doesn't actually mean that they are gay... I don't know, this is my opinion. I don't think there's any problem with that I just don't see it. Comment below what your opinions are. 
     There were a lot of racist jokes on that movie, that commentator, John, was so racist and an idiot in general. I know they did that just to make it funny but I wish someone had said something to him instead of just looking at each other awkwardly. The a capella world tournament was really fun. I loved to see people from different countries singing the same song. The first group to perform was the Canadian group (and I live in Canada) and everyone in the movie theatre started cheering. It was pretty funny. 
     Well, the movie was pretty funny. It did have some racist comments, but I'm not gonna make a big deal out of it. It was just supposed to make people laugh. The songs were great and the characters were awesome. I recommend for you to watch it if you liked the first movie! Oh, I forgot! The first scene when Barack and Michelle Obama were there was so funny! The whole "Wrecking Ball" scene was great.

              

Book Review: The Forest of Hands and Teeth

    I bought this book at the book sale for 2 dollars! And it is in very good condition! I remember hearing that they were going to make a book-to-movie adaptation of this book in like 2010 and I've just checked IMDB and it's still in development, so they probably just gave up on it. I gave this book 3.5 out of 5 stars.
   The whole plot reminds me of that horror movie "The Village". I've never seen it, but my cousin has and she told me all about it. It is basically a society that lives in a village secured from the forest, and no one leaves, because there are monsters outside. At the beginning I thought it would a scary book, but it wasn't. I liked it. The plot line is very interesting (so is the world building) and I want to know more about it. I'll probably read the second book, "The Dead-Tossed Waves", very soon. I really liked Mary; I could relate to her, and I think that I would feel the same way that she feels for living this life. I like that she has a clear goal, to see the ocean and find out what happened to the rest of the world. I also liked Travis, he was really cute and all. Some parts of the book were boring (I don't think there is a LOT of action in this book), but it was good and I flew through the pages.
